In an era of funding cuts to arts in schools and communities, and when galleries and museums outside of London are struggling to keep afloat when competing with their rivals in the capital, a story about art set in Yorkshire seemed timely.
Yorkshire has incredibly rich, surprisingly untapped potential for filmmakers. From Leeds, to the mill town of Dewsbury, out to the Yorkshire countryside, we found the perfect balance of beauty and isolation to compliment Sally's journey.
Moreover, we found local enthusiasm for the project humbling. Through the efforts of Yorkshire folk who came forward to provide their assistance and expertise, the movie became a true example of collaborative, regional filmmaking.
The Subject team would like to thank the following organisations for making filming in Yorkshire possible:
The Farm Cafe
J.Scholes Landscapes & Gardens
